thats how i do it from my mp3 files,
if you want to use itunes files, convert them to mp3 before uploading them to Ventones. here is how

If you are lucky enough to have an Apple computer you can use Garage Band and it will let you create ringtones out of music on your computer and then you select Share from the menu bar at the top and Send it to Itunes.
