First off, is there a free or cheap (under $ 40) iphone application development software? I just want it to have a list and search feature, sort of like the Pokedex app (pokedex by Kyle Hankinson)
And secondly, can I put this app on my iphone without putting it on the app store? I just want a few people to have it because i doubt anyone else would need it.

You can register as a developer for apple for free.
The software you’ll get with is is XCode, also free.
You’ll have to Pay $ 100 to actually post the app.
not sure about how many phones you can put the app on without registering with apple, but u can definitely set it up on 1 phone.

you CAN’T, i repeat, CAN’T ever get anything like an ipad for free. cheap, maybe. the ONLY way you can get something THAT EXPENSIVE for cheapish deal is if you go to craigslist.com , ebay.com , or amazon.com thats it. everything else is a scam.

How dont know bout cheap but you can check craigslist. The cheapest way I know is to extend contract and get it for 200.
