It sounds crazy, but the most trustworthy sites are torrent-hosting ones, *not* direct-download ones.

Of course u can always visit applestore. But better donate directly to the author.

LikeDislikeTo date there are a few places where you can get ebooks. They are not FREE but at the price it is ALMOST free.
myPadMedia is a good option. I did not believe that I could get unlimited ebooks for $ 49.95 until I tried it myself. It is good, you get good titles and you don’t have to pay $ 12.00 plus a book like they charge in the iBookstore.

PS I checked for textbooks but I could not find any specific textbooks but then I am not sure what you are looking for, so they may be there. You can also request specific titles by submitting a ticket to support.
